It is hard to put into words how grateful we were to have Liz as our post partum doula and how amazing she is at the job. Liz is supportive, professional, thoughtful and dedicated. She was everything we could have ever hoped for or wanted in a post partum doula. As first time parents, who were pregnant during the height of the covid pandemic, we knew we would need help - though going into it we didn’t know exactly what kind of help we would even need. Each day Liz came to our house for her shift, she would ask what I needed help with. Most of the time I didn’t really know how to answer, but it didn’t matter because she was able to figure it out without me saying anything. Liz was prompt and very efficient with her time - it was always impressive how much she could get done during her shifts. Liz brought a calming presence into our home. She was a sounding board for anything and everything in our lives for the first two months of parenthood—breastfeeding, baby care, navigating family dynamics, helping our dog adjust to having a baby in the home, how to use a baby carrier, how to pack a diaper bag….No question was too stupid or embarrassing. We didn’t know what it would be like having a stranger in our home, especially during the most vulnerable of times with a newborn during a pandemic, but Liz was so professional and had a way of quickly making us feel comfortable. Having Liz as our doula felt like having your (very knowledgeable) best friend right by your side. She cared for me, my husband and our baby as if she had known us forever. We learned so much from her, and feel so fortunate to have the knowledge she shared with us. My husband and I often joked that we wished she could stay forever. Any family would be so lucky to have Liz as their doula.
